Artist's Bio:

I am a native of Tennessee, grew up in Nashville, and graduated from Hume-Fogg High School.  I worked for the State of Tennessee for several years and worked for the Metro Board of Education Transportation Department for special needs children.  I have been blessed with two wonderful sons, Jonathan age 24, and Jeremiah age 20.

I have always been creative with sewing, crochet, and knitting, but my favorite has always been painting.  The love of painting increased since the HER2 breast cancer in 2016 gave me a better outlook on life.  I am still enjoying and exploring with acrylic, oil, and mix media painting.

Enjoy examples from all our artists on the Library Pinterest Page under art@WCPLtn.

Melanie Jackson

"Art is part of who I am as a person and what goes on in the midst of my everyday life. I am motivated by a desire to develop the gift God has given me and to help others do the same, and produce art that brings peace to the viewer."

Ms. Jackson lives on a small farm outside of Leiper's Fork, with husband, Dale, two cats and one crazy dog. They have one son, a daughter-in-love and two great grand kids.

She has taught painting and drawing for over 25 years and now conducts classes at her home studio. Melanie studied painting under the tutelage of Charles Brindley and drawing at Watkins Art Institute.

Her art has won several awards and is in private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

The Grid Row exhibit is in the library’s New Books section.
